Innovation in Services

Innovation has often been played-up by the industry but a quick online check revealed that innovation is simply, an act of introducing something new (The American Heritage Dictionary), the successful exploitation of new ideas (Department of Trade and Industry), or a change that creates a new dimension of performance (Peter Drucker).

There is certainly room for improvements in the services industry not quantum leaps or breakthroughs in services but rather incremental improvements to customer service to meet the changing needs of customers; and such incremental improvements to customer service can be as effective as laboratory-based innovations.

Values Assessment from 24 Countries

National Values Assessment Resource Guide (2008 – 2010)

In 2012, before the national conversation took place, aAdvantage Consulting conducted a nation wide national values assessment to understand the sentiments on the ground. 2,000 Singapore residents and Permanent Residents were polled regarding current and desired values in the society as well as in workplaces in Singapore. The study was conducted in partnership with Barrett Values Centre – a UK based centre that provides powerful metrics that enable leaders to measure and manage the cultures of their organisations and leadership development needs.

Similar studies were conducted across 24 nations and 4 communities and a resource guide of the results has been published.
